Licensed Authorizations Officer – Water

$69,969.42 – $89,774.32 annually

The Skeena Water Authorizations Team is a dynamic and collaborative group of seven self-motivated professionals committed to supporting each other and fostering a culture of continuous learning and work/life balance. As part of this team, you’ll engage with diverse experts, including First Nations advisors and environmental specialists, to make meaningful decisions that impact public safety and environmental sustainability.

As an Authorizations Specialist – Water, you review applications for authorizations under the Water Sustainability Act. You’ll also be involved in collecting vital data on streamflow, groundwater and other environmental factors to inform sustainable water use decisions.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered as a Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC); or, as a Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA); or, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC); or, able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment.
  • Degree in a natural resource field, or equivalent, as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence, or equivalent.

Related experience may include:

  • Experience related to the development and analysis of environmental or natural resources management policy.
  • Experience leading and/or facilitating multi-disciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with First Nations, other levels of government, stakeholders and industry.
