As the Emergency Services Field Project Tech, you will serve as a ‘water sampler’ and/or ‘well inspector’ and work closely with communities throughout the San Joaquin Valley and their residents to test the quality of water in existing, newly drilled, or deepened domestic water wells or work with well drillers to determine the needs of properties facing dry wells. Travel is required throughout the Valley (rental car provided or mileage is reimbursed). The ability to communicate in Spanish is desired (full fluency is not required).

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals, communities, local municipalities, and state agencies to facilitate the implementation of drought relief, access to safe and affordable water, and resiliency efforts.
    Communicate directly with families participating in all Emergency Services programs.
    Conduct private domestic well inspections and water sampling as required for all programs.
    Track and maintain detailed records of test sites, samples, daily activities, etc.
    Upload data to Microsoft Excel tracking sheets and other Microsoft 365 programs.
    Educate private domestic well and private septic owners on long-term operation and maintenance and financial management
    Educate private domestic well owners on water sampling procedures, water contamination, water filtration device options, and long-term filtration device operation and maintenance.
    Perform minor maintenance and repair to tank systems.
    Coordinate and logistically assist with emergency and non-emergency water deliveries.
    Maintain storage unit organization and cleanliness.
    Assists with the coordination of special events as needed.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or SHE employees.
    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    Strong Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
    Strong Communication Skills.
    Self-starters
    Willingness to travel throughout SHE’s service area.
    Knowledge of and experience working with septic systems is desired.
    Working knowledge in ArcView GIS and/or Microsoft Power BI is desired.
