Description
Following a successful bid to DEFRA this partnership project with Shropshire Council and the Environment Agency looks to scope and develop a Centre for Living with Climate Change over three years. The centre combines the practical need for water management skills with a place-based approach to the cross-border landscape of the River Severn Catchment. This post offers a curious and collaborative researcher the opportunity to join our growing team at the Centre for Research into Environmental Sustainability, at the University of Chester.
We are seeking a researcher keen to build their career at the University of Chester and engage in Participatory Action Research with communities. The individual should understand the innovation and skills development opportunity to tackle the Climate Crisis and recognise the impact of communities and sociology on this journey. You will also be interested in the wider impacts of sustainability which will contribute to our carbon neutrality journey and able to relate your work to the wider social and environmental implications. Ideally, you will be familiar with designing research or projects to deliver pre-established objectives, running events and recording data, reporting this data, and communicating findings.
Alongside the Project Manager, you will conduct and direct the research, you will also be part of a supportive wider team. Flexible working hours, hybrid working, job sharing, and combined internal posts are possible, in agreement with the manager. This role involves working across Shropshire, Powys and Herefordshire (the Marches Partnership) using a hub and spoke model, the hub will be situated in Shropshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique team, with creative input into a novel project and a chance to support the River Severn Catchment to prepare to tackle the threat of Climate Change. Appropriate training will be provided for the successful candidate.
