To identify potential sites for Pumped Storage Power (PSP) plants which may utilize existing mining lands; it was a desk-top study utilizing GIS methods and multi-criteria analysis to screen potential options and identify the most attractive ones. Two lower reservoirs (created by mining operations) and four upper reservoirs have been identified for further study. The PSP schemes range from 370 MW to 700 MW with 8-12 hrs of storage. The results of the scoping study will be made available to the Consultant of the contemplated pre-feasibility study.
