The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role
The Statewide Groundwater team is responsible for providing technical advice and support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of groundwater within the state of Queensland. Specific tasks may include involvement in EIS Assessment for major projects, input to the development and review of Water Plans, advice on complex issues associated with groundwater licensing and bore log reviews.
Key Accountabilities:
• Support the operations of a team delivering technical advice on the assessment and management of groundwater in Queensland.
• Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with stakeholders and project teams for the delivery of groundwater technical advice.
• Support in the delivery of groundwater advice on technical reports and documentation for the resolution of contentious issues to internal and external clients.
• Support the provision of timely and accurate advice on project actions, and for the preparation of complex briefs related to groundwater management and use.
• Ensure quality outcomes in the application of groundwater technical advice to water management procedures, policy and legislation.
• Participate in the review of water policy and planning proposals, identify risks and provide recommendations on groundwater management and use across Queensland.
About You
• Possess a degree or higher qualification in either hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, geology, hydrology, engineering, geoscience, science or applied science.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with key industry stakeholders.
• Well-developed technical report writing and organisational skills.
• Growth mind set to pursue learning opportunities.
• Travel away from the centre may be required.
