Position Description:
Hydro-geologists work on mapping and monitoring projects involving the development and management of water-related initiatives under various projects of DACAAR. These can vary from comprehensive assessments of surface water and groundwater resources to practical geophysical investigation and contour mapping. The major role to be played by the position holder is ensuring the developing reports on GWMs (Ground Water Monitoring), Water Quality Control, Water Quality Assurance, and preparing of specialized hydro geological & Geophysical maps.
Responsibilities:
To assist Senior Hydro Geologist, in achieving the mandates of the projects.Conduct hydrogeological field investigations, including well drilling site selection, geophysical surveys, and water samplingProvide monthly/quarterly reports and manage the filing system. Take care of hardware and software.Clearance of all available water quantity data.Data Quality and cleaning, inform the senior hydro geologist of any usual or wrong dataPrepare water quantitate and qualitative data table, graph, and charts map using arc GIS tools.Prepare water quality parameters maps using GIS data management tools.Provide time series water level and salinity graphs.Find elevation according to the available water point GPS location from Google Earth. Digitalize the map and create water level contour by province using GIS management tools.Digitalize map and create salinity contour line maps using GIS management tools.Geo-referencing of water-related historical maps.Provide well log by Hydro Geo Analyst.Clip maps by district and province for any requirement.Developing contour maps from various data available.Prepare the Geological map using a GIS management tool – specifically Arc GIS.Regular field visits to the regions and support the field team in the wells construction, well development, pumping tests, etc.The holder of this position must strictly follows the organization existing security policies, procedures, and daily instructions of the safety personnel.Any other instruction given by the supervisor
Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits
Education:Bachelor Degree in Hydro geology is required but, (Master degree is preferred).
Experience: Minimum Three (3) years of experience in relevant field is required.
Other qualifications’ an advantage: Skills in GIS ARC and Q GIS Ability in team working, Management skills and ability to properly planning skills Having skills of Strong reporting, effective communication problem solvingStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Languages:Oral and written fluency in (English, Dari, Pashto)
