The Accelnet PEER2PEER program is seeking graduate students, postdocs, and researchers to complete fellowships focused on transboundary water resource management in fall 2024 through spring 2025. Fellows will spend 2-4 weeks at a host lab participating in ongoing work, while also exploring their own interests under the guidance of lab directors and staff.
The following fellowships are available this year:
University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center
- Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States
- Scope: A fellow will identify different efforts at building international transboundary water security networks. This will involve researching various organizations and programs, characterizing their mission, purpose, and/or strategy, and questioning what constitutes a network. The fellow will study the focus of the network(s), how they operate, their age, and their level of formality. The fellow will utilize existing networks of the host institution, internet research, and possibly short outreach to individuals to product a report with supporting documentation.
- Eligibility: Non-U.S.-based graduate students, postdocs, and researchers
American University of Central Asia
- Location: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
- Scope: Recent observations have indicated a historical increase in flooding in the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan. This trend has highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive research and studies focused on flooding in steep slope areas. Given the potential impacts on infrastructure, communities, and the environment, it is crucial to prioritize such research. A fellow would conduct research on the topic of flooding in steep slope areas.
- Eligibility: Graduate students, postdocs, and researchers based in the United States
National Water Resources Management Agency
- Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone
