Job Summary

The Team
The Water Management Branch (WMB) at Water, Fisheries and Coastal Policy & Planning Division offers inclusive leadership and expert support for water programs at local and regional levels. The Flood Policy team is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion,  and provides strategic direction for provincial flood resilience policies and programs. The Role
The Policy Analyst, reporting to the Senior Flood Policy Analyst, is responsible for independently managing policy development projects that review and revise existing ministry programs or legislation. This role requires engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders and leading approaches that align with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Land Use Planning, Public Administration, First Nation Studies, or a field related to the program area and one (1) year of *related experience; or
  • Diploma in Geography, Land Use Planning, Public Administration, First Nation Studies, or a field related to the program area and two (2) years of *related experience; or
  • Certificate or coursework in Geography, Land Use Planning, Public Administration, First Nation Studies, or a field related to the program area and four (4) years of *related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience including volunteer and lived experience may be considered.

*Related experience must include both of the following:

  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience leading and/or participating in engagement initiatives (e.g., facilitating, planning, scoping, or project management)
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.

**Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Two (2) years or more of related experience as outlined above
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations consultations or engagement.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
  • Experience with procurement and directing the work of contracted resources.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
