The proposed activity aims to improve the conventional national approaches on groundwater monitoring by refining the optimization; maintenance and sustainability of operation of groundwater monitoring networks. The consultancy services will identify international best practices in piezometric monitoring and result dissemination; and will draft a methodological aid for the CNRE in Mauritania to establish optimized piezometric networks and enhance the value of their information. This activity will enable PSEA and CNRE to improve the financial viability of groundwater monitoring operations by adjusting the frequency of data collection and associated operational costs. It will enhance the governance framework of the groundwater resource monitoring network. Overall; the activity will improve the economic efficiency and overall performance of the Water Resources Management (WRM) services targeted by the PSEA. By streamlining the acquisition; analysis; and reporting of groundwater data based on foreign experience; the activity will also contribute to Mauritania’s digital transformation.The present procurement cover the first phase of the service: Identification of the international best practices in piezometric monitoring and result dissemination.
