About the Job
The Water Resource Center hires seasonal employees annually to advance research and education in our program. These positions are either temporary or casual in nature (see definition below). All of the positions hired are hourly, with schedules set by a supervisor which may vary.

Eligibility and Restrictions:
- Students not enrolled in any of the UMN system campuses
- Not currently employed by the University of Minnesota.
- Employees in these positions perform a wide variety of non-academic and/or academic work responsibilities on a temporary or casual work schedule.
- Minnesota Statute limits the eligibility, number of hours and/or days worked in this job classification.
- The definition of temporary: Employees are limited to 67 or fewer days of work in a calendar year.
- 100 day temporary: Students who are not enrolled at any of the University of Minnesota system campuses but are full-time students from a nonprofit or public institution prior to being hired and intend to continue as a student during or after the temporary employment; under age 22; and the appointment does not exceed 100 workdays in a calendar year.
- The definition of casual: Employees can work 14 or fewer hours each week and are not limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year.
Position Summary: This position will support the Minnesota Stormwater Research Program (“stormwater program”) at the Water Resources Center by assisting with grant management, communications, and event activities, examples of which are provided below.
Responsibilities:
50% Pre-Award Support Activities:
● Help develop the proposal templates and appendices for the request for proposals
● In collaboration with WRC staff, update templates and instructions for the proposal submission process to the online grant management program, WizeHive
● Provide direction and support to applicants, principal investigators and research teams as needed to ensure complete and timely proposal submissions
● Organize and provide summary information for proposals received
● Collate and summarize advisory board reviews of research project proposals
30% Communications Support Activities:
● Create content and design concepts for stormwater research program website updates
● Continuously review and website pages to make sure information is current and coordinated needed updates with communications team
● Develop new graphics to communicate stormwater concepts
● Capture photos and videos of projects or events as needed
● Produce finished videos for outreach & education as needed
15% Event Support Activities:
● Assist with the coordination of research symposiums, workshops, and other events as needed
● Capture and summarize discussions in effective and useful formats
5% Administration:
● Participate in team meetings
Qualifications:
BA/BS in water resources sciences; hydrology; civil, environmental, or biosystems engineering; watershed science, management and policy; environmental education; urban or regional planning; or closely related fields relevant to water management and water quality with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
