Please note: this position is paid on an hourly basis and limited to 1500 hours per calendar year. The salary range for Scientific Aid is $17.21 – $20.43 per hour.
The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality has an opening for a Scientific Aid as part of the Stormwater Help Desk within the Surface Water Section. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 15th Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. This position requires in-office attendance.
Under direct supervision of the Supervising Water Resource Control Engineer, with direction provided by the unit staff, the incumbent is required to be courteous; provide timely responses to internal and external customers and meet work commitments. Duties include assisting with the implementation of stormwater general permits, reviewing, and analyzing applications and fees, participating in database testing and development, and providing assistance to permit applicants.
Duties:
The incumbent is one of several scientific aids that staff the Stormwater Help Desk. The incumbent is responsible for processing the daily mail, which includes checks for new stormwater applications; answering incoming phone inquiries; responding to email inquiries; testing and using the online stormwater data system (Stormwater Multiple Application and Report Tracking System – SMARTS); filing; and other general administrative and technical duties.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
