The State Water Resources Control Board’s Nonpoint Source Unit has an opening for an Environmental Scientist in the Surface Water Branch. The position will report to the Senior Environmental Scientist. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 15th Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. The position will assist in the administration of the federal Clean Water Action section 319(h) grant. This grant provides support to the state and subgrantees to develop and implement watershed-based plans for the control of nonpoint source pollution. In addition, the unit is responsible for development of policy and programs focused on control of nonpoint source pollution including agricultural runoff, grazing, marinas, and pollution modelling.
Duties:
The incumbent will work as an Environmental Scientist in the Nonpoint Source Unit to carry out nonpoint source pollution control activities statewide through collaboration with the Regional Boards and other state and federal agencies with authorities and responsibilities pertaining to the control of nonpoint source pollution to ensure and improve water quality protection and restoration.
