The role
We are seeking a Knowledge Manager to connect different communities of research, policy and practice for the Maximising UK Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) Hub project. The UKRI-funded MACC Hub, led by King’s College London, is being launched to deliver faster and more impactful action in the UK to help all UK nations prepare for the predicted effects of climate change. The MACC Hub aims to inform a national climate change adaptation plan by addressing current barriers around public awareness, policy, legislation and climate data that might be hindering the UK’s ability to adapt to climate change.
As a Knowledge Manager, you will co-produce a knowledge, learning and networking hub for the project based on needs of the Devolved Administrations. As part of this role, you will elicit the needs of different user groups to co-design an online space that connects communities of research, policy and practice together to learn, share and connect with one another. You will also maintain and support the website throughout the project to ensure the future legacy of the knowledge created.
The website will be the key portal to disseminate science-based, policy-relevant information to support effective and sustainable adaptation to climate change in the UK. The MACC Hub website will link directly to weADAPT, a global climate change adaptation platform and network managed by SEI Oxford, connecting UK-relevant work with research and practice frontiers and organisations working on related issued worldwide.
Additional knowledge management activities related to other EU-funded projects, such as the MAIA and AGORA projects, will also be part of this role.

- Build and engage online communities via social media and newsletters, creating visually engaging content, and in accordance with relevant events such as observance days and conferences.
- Perform regular monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities using a MEL framework and log.
- Develop a structure for benchmarking, analysing and measuring online activity and trends with regular reporting on digital performance analytics for the platform, including using Google Analytics and social media data. Provide recommendations for modifications or improvement based on the trends.
Formal qualifications and knowledge:
- At least three years of proven experience in content, communication or platform management, preferably in WordPress.
- Education and/or professional background in climate change adaptation or related issues of sustainable development.
- Comfortable with co-design processes and facilitating these for the purposes of supporting learning, knowledge exchange and collaboration using online tools.
- Experience building vibrant online communities.
- Experience producing syntheses of reports, projects and events that promote learning.
- Experience monitoring analytics and trends in platform use and conducting an evaluation of impact.
Required skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent writing skills and the ability to write for non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Excellent proficiency in English.
Desired skills:
- Knowledgeable about key actors, research, policies and debates relevant to climate adaptation in the UK.
- Familiar with knowledge management tools, and passionate about supporting learning and climate action through enhanced knowledge management.
