The Department
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role
In this central role, you will oversee a dedicated team tasked with supporting water service providers throughout Queensland, ensuring the provision of dependable drinking water. As a proactive member of the Urban Water Security Planning division, you will spearhead projects designed to secure urban water resources for the future. Your expertise will be called on to offer in-depth advice on complex issues surrounding urban water security and to guarantee that the planning in place effectively mitigates any risks to water supply security.
Key Accountabilities:
• Lead and manage the provision of high level, expert and authoritative advice to senior management on complex operational and policy urban water supply security issues and recommend initiatives that promote reliable urban water supplies.
• Manage and/or oversee projects, including collaborations with water service providers and the development of support material for water service providers, such as guidelines and waterwise resources.
• Deliver and manage the delivery of priority government projects to meet departmental and broader government objectives in a timely manner.
• Exercise judgement, authority and high-level influence to effectively coordinate the management of divisional requirements and competing team priorities.
•Build and manage positive working relationships and partnerships with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve the required deliverables.
•Represent the department’s vision, values and strategic agenda with clients, stakeholders, external organisations and other State agencies.
•Strategic and professional leadership to develop and manage an effective work team.
About You
• Experience in water would be highly regarded as would sound proficiency in theuse of PowerBI and Excel. A degree in science, engineering or related qualification would also be well regarded.
• Occasional travel may be required. This may involve travel outside of normaloffice hours and/or overnight accommodation for a few days collaborating with Councils and the department’s regional offices.
