The Department
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role
Join the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (RDMW) as a Senior Water Officer and contribute to the sustainable management of the state’s natural resources. Based in the North Region. You will lead an experienced team to implement vital legislation and policies within the Water Services work unit, focusing on Water Management and Use. As part of our flexible workforce strategy of putting people in the regions discover the natural treasures of working in Ayr, Mackay, Longreach or Mareeba.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a team to collaboratively achieve departmental objectives by understanding and applying the Water Act 2000 and other relevant legislation.
• Engage business improvement projects across teams, ensuring personal integrity and transparency.
• Utilise a variety of software packages to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Provide robust project support, providing advice on legislation and processes to internal and external clients, and maintain high standards of customer service.
About You
• Exhibits strong leadership qualities and a commitment to continuous personal and team development.
• Demonstrates flexibility, excellent decision-making, and a results-driven approach to challenges.
• A “C” class drivers’ licence would be highly regarded.
