Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of External Services, is recruiting to fill a Riverway Regulatory Specialist (Water Regulation & Zoning Specialist-Advanced) vacancy. This position could be stationed out of any DNR office in WI, dependent upon space availability. Remote work is available for up to 60% of the work week!
This recruitment may also be used to fill future permanent, project and/or LTE vacancies.

Position Summary
This position ensures consistent, efficient, and effective implementation and coordination of waterway and wetland projects along the Mississippi River, Lower Wisconsin State Riverway, and Wild & Scenic Rivers. This positions also serves as the Waterway Program expert for water quality certifications under the Federal Clean Water Act, Section 401 and provides training and mentorship to the staff within the Waterway Program and across other Department programs to ensure consistent implementation with these Federal laws.

Salary Information
Starting pay is $39.00 – $42.00 per hour ($81,120 – $87,360 annually) in pay schedule and range 15-03.
Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position includes an excellent benefits package, including health care, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details
Travel: This position will require travel to other locations several times per year for trainings, meetings, conferences and occasional field work around the State.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include the following:
- Professional work experience applying environmental standards of surface water, stormwater, wetlands, water quality, hydrology/hydraulics, waterway alternatives, floodplain zoning, shoreland zoning, or another water-related environmental field
- Experience advising others on policies, administrative rules, laws, or similar
Best-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:
- Experience delivering training programs to internal or external groups
- Work experience providing leadership for a team of people
- Experience developing and/or revising policies
- Professional experience with the development, implementation or enforcement of environmental regulations
- Master’s or PhD related to environmental management or natural resources
