The Opportunity
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow. You will contribute independently and/or as a team member to collaborative research with a focus on enhancing the quality of research outcomes. You will conduct research in safeguarding water resources and efforts towards water re-use. You will work together with the Australian water industry and international partners to develop novel tools to assess water quality, particularly using satellite imagery, and to advance smart water infrastructure.
This position will give you the opportunity to develop your research skills and output through your contribution to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals, participating in conferences and workshops and assist in the supervision of research students.
This role reports to Dr Bojan Tamburic and has no direct reports.
- Salary, Level A – $97,674 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills and Experience
- A PhD in Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated technical skills in water quality analysis, satellite remote sensing, smart water infrastructure and/or water re-use.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
