Job/Role Overview:

The Deputy Program Manager for Water Security plays a pivotal role at Raintree, overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at ensuring water security. Working closely with the Head of Program Design,, this position involves strategic leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise to address water challenges and promote water security in communities.

Role & Responsibilities:

Program Design and Strategy:

โ— Ensure comprehensive primary and secondary research for developing the program design

โ— Lead the development of a strategy for the water security thematic, ensuring alignment with the organizational goals, landscape & community needs, donor requirements, and industry best practices.

โ— Develop a detailed plan with a proposed budget and timeline which not only solves for water security but is also embedded in building community resilience.

Project and Budget Management:

โ— Oversee the day-to-day implementation of water security programs, including project planning, budget management, procurement, monitoring, and reporting.

โ— Coordinate with the implementation teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of project milestones and outcomes.

โ— Ensure that all water security projects run per the approved budget and within the agreed timelines.

โ— Ensure submission of all invoices and bills in a timely manner

Technical Expertise:

โ— Provide technical guidance and support on water-related issues, including water resource management & strengthening, watershed management, springshed management, water quality monitoring, and river basin rejuvenation.

โ— Stay abreast of emerging trends, research findings, and innovative solutions in the field of water security.

Risk Management:

โ— Identify potential risks and challenges associated with water security programs, such as environmental degradation, climate change, socio-economic factors, and governance issues.

โ— Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address these challenges and ensure program resilience.

Knowledge Management:

โ— Document and disseminate lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from water security interventions

โ— Keep abreast of developments in the water security thematic, and circulate articles, white papers and relevant documents / information amongst the team

Monitoring and Evaluation:

โ— Establish robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress, measure outcomes, and assess the impact of water security programs.

โ— Collect, analyze, and report on relevant data and indicators to inform programmatic decision-making and ensure accountability to donors and beneficiaries.

Capacity Building and Training:

โ— Identify capacity gaps and training needs among field staff, partners, and community members related to water management and sustainability.

โ— Develop and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, workshops, and training programs to enhance local knowledge and skills.

Advocacy and Policy Influence:

โ— Advocate for policy and institutional reforms that promote water security at local, national, and regional levels.

โ— Represent Raintree Foundation in relevant forums, networks, and working groups

Fundraising:

โ— Assist in the development of concept notes, grant proposals and donor reports.

โ— Assist the fundraising team in the management of donors, as and when needed.

Communication:

โ— Provide the communication team with content for the development of marketing materials.

Education:

Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Water Resources Management, Development Studies, or a related field. (Ideal)

Experience: Minimum of 4-9 years of experience in project management, preferably in the

development sector with a focus on water security, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), or related areas.
