External Freelance Lecturer for the subject “Sustainable Water Management” in our MBA Program (m, f, d)

The teaching load comprises two modules, which should be held over two semesters via online. Each module has a workload of 6 SWS (4,5 hours per week) over 16 weeks.

To become a freelance lecturer at a university of applied sciences sharing your knowledge and passion with students from all over the world

The teaching content is about:

Module 1:

The aim of the course is to develop an autonomous critical thinking in the use of updated technologies when dealing with Soil and Water Management. Learn if, when and how use the most advanced engineering best practices concerning the soil erosion and the related influence on water. Develop a wide technical overview on Water Cycle. Evaluate water related risks under the social and economic point of view. The module provides a specific educational action aimed to understand the birth of the Environmental Culture from its genesis, beginning from the publication of the Meadow’s Report in 1972 by the Club of Rome. The birth of the concept of Sustainable Development and the Brundtland Report in 1987. The birth and diffusion of the Rio’s Declaration and of Agenda XXI in 1992. The MDGs, their birth, the context and their diffusion. The interdisciplinary importance of water. Water and economy, water and society. The deep interaction of water and agriculture/access to water and Food Security. The importance of international cooperation policies and their evolution: from government to government to government to people. The impact of water’s related crisis on the geopolitics’ scenario. Climate change and water related issues. The birth of Sustainable and Responsible Development and its gradual diffusion, Earth Carrying Capacity, water footprint and other indicators, environmental education, Rome’s Charter 2016.

Modul 2:

The Module provides a specific educational action aimed to develop an authentic well-structured capability to understand the real and specific causes behind water disputes and their deterioration up to become dangerous cater crises. It also aims to teach the students how to evaluate the different impacts on local population and the role of the various players. A specific attention will be paid to the recent events that led from a wrong Hydropolitics to HydroJihad in the Near and Middle East. It offers the opportunity too to study relevant cases from the past and to face current unsolved cases. In addition to this, the module focuses on oceans and seas in order to understand better their centrality in future human’s development. Learn a specific geographical approach to ocean’s studies. Comprehend the importance of the Mediterranean Strategies enhanced by the EU, especially with reference to the complex interaction existing between the different priorities. Learn the possible opportunities represented by Oceans and Seas socially, economically and politically.

Investigate Ocean’s degradation and pollution and related possible solutions offered by technology. Learn the importance of Science Diplomacy in supporting decision making processes to face and possibly solve Maritime disputes and conflicts.

Additional tasks:

  • Preparation and evaluation of certificates of achievement

Your profile:

  • Relevant professional experience
  • Graduation with a Master degree at least
  • Completed relevant university studies
  • Teaching experience at universities
