Job Title – Water Technician
Locations – Head office Malvern, candidates to work in surrounding areas such as Manchester, Stockport, Stock on Trent, Warrington, and others.
Employment Type – Full time, Permanent
Hours – 37.5 hours
Salary – £23,400 pa

Hydro International -Data Insights and Analysis has been operating in the UK for around 40 years and undertakes data analysis and collection for a variety of customers nationwide. We compile, quality assure and issue data reports to clients relating to water levels, water quality and discharge. We operate and maintain the Hydro-Logic® Flexi Logger 105 equipment installed at around 1,400 sites across the country. We offer services to major clients as well as smaller local authorities and parish councils when needed. Our flood water monitoring systems provide invaluable data to communities affected by heavy rainfall.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Hydrometry and Monitoring team. Flexibility and a willingness to work in nearby areas are crucial for our team.
Work locations will include Stoke on Trent, Manchester, Warrington, Stockport, among others.
We are looking for candidates who are centrally located and can quickly access main roads for long-distance travel.
As a water technician, the role will involve the candidate visiting various sites, primarily undertaking field measurements of water quantity (flow), depth, quality, rainfall etc. Additionally, responsibilities include the installing, operating, and maintaining of telemetry logging equipment.
Essential skills for the Water Technician role:
- A passion for working outdoors in all weathers conditions
- Comfortable working in water, strong swimming skills
- Confidence in working at heights, such as using ladders, and ease in working within confined spaces.
- Good level of computer literacy (MS Office applications – Word, Excel)
- Demonstrates awareness of potential risks and safety protocols
- Holds GCSE qualifications or their equivalent in Geography, Maths, and English, or a background in an environmental-related discipline
- Possession of a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental field (e.g., Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Outdoor Education, etc
- Skilled in practical, hands-on tasks that involve the use of both power and hand tools
- Willing to travel as required
- Possess a valid UK driver’s license for 12 months +, with a satisfactory driving history
Experience:
- Full training is provided, providing you possess the essential skills listed above.
- Experience with Hydrometric field data collection is beneficial but not essential
