Our Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a Manager Urban Water Policy in an ongoing full-time capacity.
The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies, and societies across NSW.
About You
The purpose of the Manager Urban Water Policy is to lead policy development and implementation for state-wide urban water issues which are appropriate, effective, and efficient, and compatible with Government priorities. The role provides analysis and advice on regulatory mechanisms that underpin the provision of water services to ensure that policy settings are optimised, working in partnership with customers and stakeholders to achieve great outcomes for the community.
Key accountabilities in the role include:
- Lead a team to provide expert advice to the Director, Department Executives, and relevant Ministers on state-wide urban water policy reform, water State Owned Corporation related regulatory and policy matters, and private water utility licences.
- Provide the state government position on IPART price reviews for metro water utilities, and lead policy and legislation for the regulation of private water utilities.
- Represent the Department and Government effectively and appropriately at a senior level at inter-agency governance groups, industry forums, maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and lead targeted and public consultation processes.
- Deal with a diverse range of complex policy matters and regulatory issues related to climate resilience, demand management, recycled water, water industry competition, and drought management.
Key Knowledge & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in strategic policy development and implementation, regulation and legislative reform, and planning and/or delivery of water services, water resource management, or land use planning.
