About Water For People
Water For People India is a non-profit organization which supports people of developing countries to improve their quality of life by promoting locally sustainable drinking water sources, sanitation facilities and health and hygiene programs. We believe that access to safe water and adequate sanitation are basic human rights and can help put an end to needless suffering and mortality from water related preventable diseases.
Water For People India initiated its operations in West Bengal in 1996 in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts. Consistent with the global vision and mission, we exist to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. Environmental Stewardship, Integrity, Courage, and Amplify All Voices. Water For People India programs have been implemented in 26 districts in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Odisha and Assam.
In all, nearly 1.6 million people have been reached through community drinking water and sanitation, WASH in public institutions and market led approaches to sanitation. By 2023, Water For People India programs aim to directly benefit 2.7 million people. We aim to build capacities at the district level which will contribute to organizational commitments, thereby indirectly benefiting 14.8 million people. Water For People India implements programs through locally registered non-government organizations.

Job Description
The Field Facilitator will be responsible for building close coordination and communication with communities/schools in targeted areas, generating awareness about key WASH issues. They will conduct regular meetings for coordination and capacity building, liaise with community leaders and influencers, and deliver training sessions to target groups.
S/he will be responsible to ensure that the project interventions are implemented in an effective and efficient manner and the project goals and objectives are met. S/he works very closely with the targeted communities and groups to identify and mobilize them in support of project activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build close coordination and communication with the communities/schools (CDF, WASH committees, frontlines, influencers etc.) living in the targeted tea gardens and generate awareness on key WASH issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with CDF, community leaders, women, religious leaders, relevant stakeholders at the community level for coordination and capacity building.
- Liaise with community leaders and influential to support the project interventions implementation in the targeted communities.
- Deliver appropriate training or awareness sessions to the target groups in the community.
- Organize and participate in all project field level events like training, IEC activities and other project related activities.
- Collect case stories in the community that reflect the benefit of project intervention in the community.
- Make arrangements with local communities to conduct various IEC activities (IPCs, short film screening, street theater, wall paintings etc.).
- Keep record of outcomes and case stories from project activities, to then be transferred to the Water For People India.
- Attend and actively participate in all facilitation training provided by Water For People India.
- Have a good understanding of the content and intended message of each SBCC interventions and be able to integrate this into the community discussions.
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
Key Competencies and Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
The Field Facilitator should be inter/Graduation in any discipline and have working experience 3 years with good understanding of local community issues.
Personal Specifications:
- Good communication skills in the local language.
- Have an openness and keen abilities in facilitating art-based intervention
- Good listening & presentation skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and respectful demeanor.
- Being able to follow instructions and work within boundaries.
- Able to work independently.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- The position comprises 90 % of the field work and 10 % office work for necessary reports and documentation.
- Required to work outside of normal business hours while traveling and when hosting international visitors or government requirement.
