Your contribution
Your contribution as Water Efficiency Lead is essential to transforming HEINEKEN into the greenest global brewer by driving the implementation of the water efficiency agenda in our operating companies and production sites. Your experience in water reduction problem solving and cross-departmental/site experience in improvement projects in addition to operational experience will be of great value.
Your work field
The Sustainable Production department is part of Global Production and aimed at transforming HEINEKEN into being the greenest brewer in the world. The department develops strategies for Net Zero Emissions, Healthy Watersheds (water efficiency, water circularity and water stewardship), and Circular Economy, based on the strategic objectives of the company and implements them worldwide in all our 180+ production sites.
Your role
In this role you will:
- Support the global water efficiency agenda together with other functions in Global Production, HEINEKEN Global Procurement (HGP), Projects & Engineering (P&E), as well as Regions and Operating Companies.
- Collaborate with strategic suppliers to accelerate water reduction in sites.
- Monitor and ensure implementation of global sustainability initiatives and good practices related to water efficiency.
- Act as center of knowledge, (Co) develop, build, consolidate and disseminate materials, tools and best practices and deliver relevant training to Operating Companies.
- Manage an internal and external network of specialists and maintain relationships with suppliers to develop innovative, sustainable solutions.
- Help create a performance improvement culture by using internal and external benchmarking
- Provide support to the Operating Companies in accurately reporting water usage data for both internal and external reporting purposes.
Your working environment
You will report to the Water Efficient Lead. You will be a member of a cross functional Net Zero Production and Sustainable Development team. Your position is based in The Base, Schiphol, the Netherlands. Up to 25% traveling time is expected for this position.

Your profile
- MSc, preferably in mechanical/chemical engineering or food science & technology.
- 3-5 years of work experience
- Expertise in utilities equipment and water consumption reduction in beverage or food production.
- Strong project management and problem-solving capabilities. Well acquainted with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) way of working or similar Lean methodologies.
- Expertise in the optimization of water treatment plants and hygiene/sanitation is preferred. Best Practices management for process optimization is deemed an asset. Demonstrates ability to connect with people at all levels across multiple functions and geographies.
- Shows great influencing, encouraging, and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid analytical and organisational skills, curious mindset, and drive to lead sustainability agenda.
