Position Title: Water Expert
Location: Mumbai
Job Overview:
The Water Expert will play a pivotal role in guiding our foundation’s efforts towards integrated rural development, focusing on sustainable water management practices across various villages in the country. This position requires extensive expertise in water resource management, irrigation techniques, and conservation strategies, 10 years of practical experience in diverse geographical and climatic conditions in India.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recommend strategies for watershed management and groundwater recharge to enhance water security in rural areas.
- Develop and implement sustainable water management practices tailored to local environmental conditions and community needs.
- Design and oversee the implementation of irrigation systems that optimize water use efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
- Advise on the selection and installation of appropriate water harvesting and storage systems.
- Collaborate with local communities to promote water conservation awareness and participatory water resource management approaches.
- Conduct assessments of water availability, quality, and usage patterns to inform decision-making and project planning.
- Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, and research institutions to stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in water management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Water Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10 years of hands-on experience in water resource management and rural development, with a proven track record of implementing successful projects.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in water resource assessment, hydrological modeling, and water quality analysis.
- Familiarity with innovative technologies for water conservation, including drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and soil moisture monitoring systems.
- Strong understanding of watershed management principles and groundwater dynamics.
Leadership Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, facilitate training workshops, and foster collaborative partnerships with stakeholders.
Analytical Skills:
- Proficiency in conducting technical assessments and utilizing data-driven insights to improve water management practices.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
