The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for self-motivated, dedicated, and collaborative Senior Program Officers and Program Managers to work on the whole-of-government approvals approach within the Approvals System Reform branch. Working closely with environmental experts, you will lead/support delivery of approvals reform workstreams, bringing project and change expertise to planning, guiding, and implementing new ways of working. You will have a keen eye on how initiatives can be translated into the operational world, considering risks, dependencies, and change management techniques.

Approvals System Reform will be leading projects of work which will:

  • Leading the environmental approvals reform, including recommendations identified by an independent review;
  • Find solutions to complex statutory and non-statutory barriers in approvals processes;
  • Lead change activities cross government;
  • Support governance bodies and;
  • Implement reform initiatives in areas where capacity is significantly restrained.

This is a Talent Pool for with multiple opportunities for full-time and part-time fixed term employment for 12 to 30 months, with a possible extension and/or permanency.

Senior Program Officers & Senior Program Officer – Change (Level 6)

The Senior Program Officer and Senior Program Officer – Change are responsible for providing project /change guidance and support to deliver actions for the Approvals System Reform roadmap specifically in Governance bodies, risk and issue management, draft briefing notes, and support and develop plans for non-project experts. Providing leadership to Program Officers and Policy Officers. Supporting the Program Manager and Strategic Project Manager. Coach and mentor to upskill other members of the team. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders to support the achievement of project outcomes within DWER and other agencies.

Program Managers & Program Manager – Change Expert (Level 7)

The Program Manager and Program Manager – Change Expert are responsible for providing project / change management support to stakeholder group sessions and governance bodies, lead the development and execution of approvals system reform plans, managing complex and cross agency risks and issues, engaging and delivering progress reports to senior governance bodies. Managing full projects from requirements gathering to implementation influencing a streamline approach. Co-design solutions with Cross Government agencies, Aboriginal stakeholders, and community groups, including shaping and administering partnership agreements. Providing management and leadership to Senior Program Officers, Program Officers, Subject Matter Experts and other team members.

This pool will operate for a period of 12 months with vacancies being offered at part or full time on a permanent or fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension or permanency. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
