About the job

We are looking for an independent, highly motivated, and enthusiastic postdoc, who is passionate about pursuing career development and has prior research experience in one of the following research directions:

· hydrologic modeling

· Weather Scale and/or Subseasonal-to-seasonal forecasts

· Climate Change and GCMs

· artificial intelligence.

This position is funded by federal government grants.

The postdoc will be housed in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus (https://www.ou.edu/coe/cees), and supervised by Dr. Tiantian Yang (https://tiantiay.wixsite.com/research). Yang’s lab focuses on developing advanced modeling tools, optimization algorithms, and/or artificial intelligence algorithms to solve a full spectrum of water resources and hydrological problems.

The responsibility:

1. Conduct high-quality research related to hydrology and water resources management

2. Publish high-quality journal articles and present research at international conferences

3. Engage in proposal writing and accomplish project-related duties assigned by the sponsor and supervisor

4. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students on research, education, and career development

5. Other adhoc research and outreach activities assigned by sponsor and supervisor

Qualifications:

(1) A PhD in the field of civil engineering, environmental science, environmental engineering, water resources, meteorology, or other related fields, is required upon the start of the appointment.

(2) Strong English writing and speaking skills are required.

(3) Quantitative modeling capabilities, programming language skills, and passion for developing novel research are required.

(4) Successful applicants will be creative, self-motivated, and capable of working effectively both independently and in collaborative groups.

(5) Records of highly reputable journal publications and grant writing experience are a plus.

Position Information:

Stipend: Based on experience and with health benefits included.

Appointment: Initial contract will be 12 months (1 year). Renewal for additional 24 months (2 years) is possible and based on available funds and satisfactory performance.

Appointment Start date: Flexible based on candidate’s availability with a preference of the sooner the better
