The Water Resources Management (WRM) group ,a part of Environmental Sciences group at Wageningen University and Research is seeking to recruit a Junior Lecturer (Docent 4) in the field of the socio-technical aspects of water management for a minimum of two years.

Your responsibilities:
1. Education (70%-time allocation)
The Junior Lecturer will have the following education responsibilities, to be further developed based on experience and interest:

  • inputs to the Bachelor International Land and Water Management courses, such as ‘Orientation BIL’, ‘Environmental Justice’, ‘Land and Water Engineering’, ‘Design 2’, ‘Orientation on International Land and Water Management’ and tutoring student groups in the writing sessions for BSc. theses;
  • education innovation;
  • supervise BSc internship and thesis students in the field of water resources management (2-4 students per year).

2. Projects and general chair group work (20 %-time allocation)
The Junior Lecturer will work partly on projects that link research, capacity-building and policy support.

3. Developing own research ideas and acquisition of funding to carry out a PhD project within the WRM group (10 %-time allocation).

You will work here
You will work at the Water Resources Management (WRM) group, led by prof.dr.ir. Petra Hellegersis. WRM is engaged in interdisciplinary research and education at the intersection of water, technology and society. We study integrated water resource management and governance questions in both the global South and North. Central in our study are questions as to how patterns of allocation and use of water can be explained as the combined outcome of technological choices, socio-ecological dynamics and cultural-political negotiation processes and other forms of socio-political interaction.

Your qualities

You have/ you are:

  • a MSc degree in a relevant discipline;
  • an interdisciplinary and sociotechnical approach to water management studies;
  • good didactic and communication skills;
  • fluency in English (and preferably Spanish);
  • a collaborative team player.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3.226,- and €5.090,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). Initially, we offer you a two-year contract.
