The HafenCity University Hamburg, University of Architecture and Metropolitan Development (HCU) is a university that focuses on the built environment. The HCU unites all aspects of building and design, engineering, and natural sciences as well as geoscientific and social sciences under one roof. The workinggroup ‘Environmentally sound urban and Infrastructure Planning (USIP) works interdisciplinarily at the interfaces between the technical infrastructure planning (e.g. water management, transport planning,etc.) with spatial, urban, landscape and open space planning. The project NEU-Water – funded by BMBF – aims to develop solutions and processes that promote the reuse of rainwater and graywater as part of water-sensitive urban development. The project intends to do this while working in the context of dense, low-income urban areas in southern African countries. The project activities are planned in South Africa and Tanzania and shall be executed jointly with the support of Hamburg Wasser, Urban Waters Consulting, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch Municipality and Ardhi University. You should be interested in writing a doctoral thesis, this will be supported as part of the HCU doctoral programme. The selection of topics and methods will take place in the first phase after recruitment. The position is assigned to the Professorship of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Dickhaut.
