Offer Description
Flow and transport in hydraulic systems are affected by many sources of uncertainty thus requiring the development of a rigorous framework for uncertainty quantification and risk assessment and equipping predictions with an appropriate level of confidence. In the context of water availability, both climate change and contamination processes are critical issues to consider affecting the space-time evolution of the quantities of interest (QoIs) and they reflect in parametric variability. The overall objective of the project is to extrapolate the behavior of the QoIs in the range of variability of the governing parameters. To do that, surrogates are used to accelerate onerous probabilistic analysis, such as global sensitivity analysis or risk assessment, that would be unfeasible for most if not all, modeling tools of practical significance. The research activity will be related to the European research project MAR2PROTECT.
