About Water For People
Water For People India initiated its operations in West Bengal in 1996 in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts. Consistent with the global vision and mission, we exist to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. Our organizational values are: accountability, courage, empowerment, partnership and transparency.
Water For People India programs have been implemented in 26 districts in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Assam. In all, nearly 1.2 million people have been reached through community drinking water and sanitation, WASH in public institutions and market led approaches to sanitation. By 2023, Water For People India programs aim to directly benefit 2.7 million
people. We aim to build capacities at the district level which will contribute to organizational commitments, thereby indirectly benefiting 14.8 million people. Water For People India implements programs directly and also through locally registered non-government organizations.
Water For People India Trust (hereafter referred to as Water For People – India) came into existence in 2008. Water For People India Trust is an affiliate of Water For People USA.
Job Description
- Review and prepare the activity calendar of the project in consultation with the Reporting Line.
- Assisting Reporting Line and cooperating with all the stakeholders with providing necessary facilitation support relating to the project.
- Conduct Baseline Survey of Block analyses the data and submit baseline report in discussion with the Reporting line.
- Execution of the activities related to Light House Initiatives
- Supervise the construction of WASH & Non-WASH construction work at Schools and AWCs following the process and norms of Water For People India Trust within time period as per the project budget.
- Undertake regular site visits of the ongoing project and provide a report to the line manager every month.
- Conduct training need assessment of the stakeholders and share with the line manager and organize training as per the requirement.
- Initiate the system of Operation and Maintenance of all the schools/ AWCs and Community of the intervened block in discussion with Reporting Line.
- The purpose and outcome of all field visits must be documented in a visit report and submitted to the Reporting Line.
- Document all important meetings/workshops with pictures and submit them to the Line Manager.
- Capture good, interesting case stories with pictures and submit them to the Line Manager.
- Organize necessary meetings/ workshops in community and schools to lead smooth execution of the program.
- Participate in the monthly review meeting and identify the challenges to work with the stakeholders.
- Participate in the training/workshops organized by Water For People India Trust for individual skill up gradation.
- Review the performance of own objectives and indicators with the line manager on a Quarterly basis.
- Any Other Tasks as assigned by Project Officer/Project Manager.
Duly station and Travel requirements
- Jatni Block/Khordha Block under Khordha District, Odisha
Reporting to:
- Project Officer – Odisha
Travel requirements.
- The position will be based in Khordha. S/he should be capable and comfortable of traveling to project sites at least 70% – 80% of total time.
The Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Holistic understanding of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion/Education/Health
- Post Graduate in Social Work/Sociology/Education/Public Health with minimum 1-2 years of experience or Graduate with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Good communication and networking skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Skill on working with school students, adolescents and community, local governance and participation.
- Ability to meet deadlines and achieve results, while maintaining congeniality and professionalism.
- Good documentation skills
- Should be comfortable in speaking, reading, and writing in Odia & Hindi and professional level of abilities in English.
Candidates should be proficient in Oriya.
Candidates should have two-wheelers driving license.
