As the Water Resource Engineer and a member of the Environmental Analysis Section, you will be responsible for providing expertise to support the development and implementation of watershed management programs and plans. Primary duties include:
- Demonstrate project management, communication, relationship building and presentation skills.
- Interpret water quality guidelines and requirements by regulators through regional plans and develop management strategies and projects to achieve compliance. Provide water resources management expertise to internal parties to meet regulatory approval reporting and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate expertise in configuring water quantity and quality assessment/modeling and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Develop strategies and plans for the integration of future climate projections into the water quality modeling tools to quantify pollutant loading and assess river health.
- Participate in the development of watershed/stormwater management plans and implementation of plan recommendations.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil or Environmental Systems Engineering or a related Engineering field.
- You must have at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. - Experience in water quality modeling tools such as: Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC), Cornell Mixing Zone Model (CORMIX), WASP, HEC-RAS, Storm Water Management Model (PC SWMM), and statistical tools will be considered an asset.
- Possess strong technical skills in the analysis and interpretation of surface water hydrology and quality information and previous experience in water quality guidelines interpretation.
- Success in this position requires a highly motivated strong communicator with excellent analytical and project management skills, the ability to influence people and build relationships, as well as demonstrated leadership and time management skills.
