The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Environmental Management, is recruiting to fill a Drinking Water & Groundwater Field Supervisor vacancy in the West Central Region. This position could be stationed out of the DNR offices in Eau Claire, La Crosse, Black River Falls or Wisconsin Rapids. Telework is available for up to 60% of the work week!

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the management and field supervision of all public water supply aspects of the state drinking water and groundwater program. The position ensures integration of the drinking water and groundwater program with other department programs as a member of the Drinking Water and Groundwater Management Team. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing statewide policy, ensuring public health protection of drinking water consumers and protecting water resources.

Salary Information
Starting pay is $43.50 – $50.83 per hour ($90,480 – $105,726.40 annually). This position is in the state classification Natural Resources Region Program Manager and is in pay schedule and range 81-02.
Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 2% General Wage Adjustment is anticipated to take effect on June 30, 2024.
This position includes an excellent benefits package, including health care, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits. A two-year trial period may be required.
Job Details
This position will require travel throughout the assigned region, as well as periodic statewide travel for meetings.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include the following:
- Education or comparable work experience in water well construction practices, bacteriology and/or water chemistry
- Work experience with public water supply systems
- Experience implementing policies in a regulatory setting
Best-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:
- Leadership experience (e.g., supervising staff, project lead, delegating tasks to staff, etc.)
- Professional experience in applied drinking and groundwater management (e.g., public water supply systems, private water supply systems, groundwater standards and/or public health, etc.)
- Developing or revising policies specifically related to drinking water quality
