Overview:
The Wastewater Management Unit is currently seeking applications from those with knowledge and experience in the field of wastewater management including, on-site wastewater systems, wastewater treatment, disposal and recycled water use, water quality, environmental engineering, public health regulation and policy. Our primary objective is to protect public health through the development and implementation of regulation, policies and protocols for wastewater management, treatment, disposal and recycled water use in South Australia. The key requirements for the role are to:
- Develop and administer legislation and prescribed codes, protocols, guidelines and State-wide public health policy for wastewater and recycled water management.
- Evaluate and approve the installation and management of wastewater systems and recycled water schemes including compliance, monitoring and enforcement.
- Provide regulatory advice and education to stakeholders on public health matters relating to wastewater and recycled water management.
- Contribute to the well-being of people in South Australia through incident management and participation in emergency management response.
- Contribute to development of public health policy and initiatives to ensure legislative and functional activities are directed toward achievement of Branch objectives.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
Special Conditions
- An appropriate tertiary qualification degree in environmental health, water-related science or environmental engineering field.
- A driver’s licence (class car) is essential.
