The research work aims to develop models and algorithms to manage flood risk in case of extreme rainfall events. The research focuses, firstly, on the development of artificial intelligence algorithm to support nonconventional techniques in hydrological monitoring and also on the use of physically based modeling for flood risk forecasting to support the realization of an early warning system. (Spoke 1 Goal 2 PP1 Azione 9).

Eligibility criteria

– Master Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Oceanography and Marine Sciences, Geophysics and Computer Science or equivalent on the basis of Italian low;
– PhD (or equivalent on the basis of Italian low) is mandatory;
– Scientific Curriculum suitable for conducting the research activities.
Candidates must be proficient in English language.

Selection process

The selection criteria concern the suitability of scientific and professional curriculum of the candidates regarding the research activities. In addition, the interview will focus on flood risk assessment and management, on hydrological and hydraulic modeling and on the environmental monitoring. The knowledge of English and/or Italian language will be verified during the colloquium.
