Duties/Pligte

  • Physical geography academic programme development and regeneration;
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in physical geography;
  • Postgraduate supervision of physical geography research;
  • Running a productive research programme in physical geography;
  • Programme coordinator of the BA development and environment programme;
  • Publication of research results in accredited journals and presenting results at conferences;
  • Actively participating in all departmental activities and research projects;
  • Academic interaction with the community.

  • Voor- en nagraadse onderrig in fisiese geografie;
  • Nagraadse studieleiding van navorsing in fisiese geografie;
  • Bestuur van ‘n produkiewe narvorsingsprogram in fisiese geografie;
  • Programkoördineerder van die BA-program in ontwikkeling en omgewing;
  • Publikasie van navorsingsuitsette in geakkrediteerde vaktydskrifte en aanbieding daarvan by konferensies;
  • Aktiewe deelname aan alle departementele aktiwiteite en navorsingsprojekte;
  • Akademiese interaksie met die gemeenskap.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • PhD in physical geography at time of application;
  • Proven competence as a lecturer;
  • At least two peer-reviewed articles as first author in internationally accredited journals on a research topic relevant to the post;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of physical processes in South African environments through research outputs;
  • Evidence of international and national conference presentations;
  • Excellent communication and language skills in English.

  • Minstens twee eweknie-geëvalueerde artikels as outeur oor ‘n navorsingsonderwerp wat op  die pos van toepassing is
  • Bewese kennis van fisiese prosesse in Suid-Afrikaanse omgewings deur navorsingsuitsette;
  • Bewyse van internasionale en nasionale konferensieaanbiedings;
  • Uitsekende kommunikasie- en taalvaardighede in Engels.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Proven competence as postgraduate supervisor and administrator;
  • Proven physical geography fieldwork and laboratory experience;
  • Competency in geographic information systems;
  • Potential to secure research funding;
  • Evidence of participation in national research cooperation;
  • Competencies in general organisational skills.
