FHI 360 is seeking technical advisors to support the USAID Regional Resilience Activity for the Sahel Region. A broad range of technical experts are being sought including in the following areas of expertise:

FHI360 is seeking qualified candidates for the anticipated USAID Leader with Associates (LWA) award for the Regional Resilience Activity for Sahel Region.  The project will seek to expand resilience in the Sahel (including in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mauritania, and the Gambia) by improving the ability of individuals, households and communities to mitigate, adapt to, and recover from perennial shocks and stresses. Potential activities areas are expected to incorporate a number of sectors including livelihoods and economic well-being, health, family planning, nutrition, governance, and citizen participation (especially women and youth).

Availability of positions are contingent upon funding and approval of personnel.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in a specific technical component.
  • Provide technical leadership in design, development, planning, implementation.
  • Provide capacity- building for specific technical components of projects.
  • Provide technical quality control for programming and deliverables within technical area of responsibility.
  • Support the exchange of information and learning across regional stakeholders and staff and partners.
  • Works with government and other implementing entities in ensuring alignment between technical approaches.
  • Contribute/Lead relevant technical discussions in relevant forums and discussions.
  • Serves as a technical representative to regional bodies and institutions, national government officials, and other participating organizations. 
  • Provide appropriate levels of technical assistance for LWA activities; supports appropriate activity monitoring and reporting.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in international development, agriculture, economics, water resources and natural resource management, business, public health, nutrition, social sciences, or a related field. 
  • Typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience in technical implementation of large projects and/or programs.
  • Experience working effectively in the Sahel region, and with demonstrated knowledge of operating environments and socioeconomic and political dynamics in the region.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of partners and stakeholders. 
  • Experience with program design/implementation, and monitoring and evaluation, preferably for USAID projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, staff development, and capacity building experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  Fluency in French is required and fluency in English is preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally as requested.

Responsabilités :

• Assurer un leadership technique dans une composante technique spécifique.

• Assurer un leadership technique dans la conception, le développement, la planification et la mise en œuvre.

• Assurer le renforcement des capacités pour des composantes techniques spécifiques des projets.

• Assurer un contrôle de qualité technique pour la programmation et les livrables dans le domaine technique de responsabilité.

• Soutenir l’Ă©change d’informations et d’apprentissage entre les parties prenantes rĂ©gionales, le personnel et les partenaires.

• Travailler avec le gouvernement et d’autres entitĂ©s de mise en Ĺ“uvre pour assurer l’alignement entre les approches techniques.

• Contribuer/diriger des discussions techniques pertinentes dans les forums et discussions pertinents.

• Servir de reprĂ©sentant technique auprès des organismes et institutions rĂ©gionaux, des reprĂ©sentants du gouvernement national et d’autres organisations participantes.

• Fournir des niveaux appropriĂ©s d’assistance technique pour les activitĂ©s de LWA ; prend en charge une surveillance et un reporting appropriĂ©s des activitĂ©s.

Qualifications :

• Diplôme de maîtrise ou son équivalent international en développement international, agriculture, économie, ressources en eau et gestion des ressources naturelles, commerce, santé publique, nutrition, sciences sociales ou dans un domaine connexe.

• NĂ©cessite gĂ©nĂ©ralement plus de 8 ans d’expĂ©rience pertinente dans la mise en Ĺ“uvre technique de grands projets et/ou programmes.

• Expérience de travail efficace dans la région du Sahel et connaissance démontrée des environnements opérationnels et des dynamiques socio-économiques et politiques de la région.

• Capacité démontrée à établir et entretenir des relations de travail productives avec un vaste réseau de partenaires et de parties prenantes.

• ExpĂ©rience dans la conception/mise en Ĺ“uvre de programmes, ainsi que dans le suivi et l’Ă©valuation, de prĂ©fĂ©rence pour les projets de l’USAID.

• Expérience démontrée en matière de leadership, de planification, de perfectionnement du personnel et de renforcement des capacités.

• Solides compĂ©tences en communication Ă©crite et orale. La maĂ®trise du français est requise et la maĂ®trise de l’anglais est prĂ©fĂ©rable.

• Capacité à voyager localement et internationalement sur demande.
