Local recruitment: Data & Monitoring Officer

West Cumbria Rivers Trust

Keswick, UK 🇬🇧

Full-time: 35 hours a week

Contract Length: Permanent

Salary: Grade 4, starting salary £31,453p.a plus 9% pension (optional)

We have an exciting opportunity to join a team of passionate people working on ‘Resilient Glenderamackin’ – our ambitious and large-scale blended finance catchment restoration project. This role provides an opportunity to develop and deliver the robust monitoring programmes required for the project.

Having successfully become a round 2 Landscape Recovery pilot, we are looking to build the existing Resilient Glenderamackin team to develop the project, with the aim to start delivering on the ground in 2025. Working closely with the project team, and in particular the Rivers Trust Ecosystem Services Analyst, you will be able to use your skills and knowledge to develop, and subsequently, deliver, the ‘Monitoring and Evaluation Plan’ element of the Landscape Recovery project. This will be key to demonstrating the impact of our work on areas such as flood risk, water quality and biodiversity.

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in an environmental, hydrological, or science related discipline, and at least 2 years’ work experience or post-graduate qualifications in a relevant subject area. You will have a keen interest in the water environment and passion to work collectively with others to ensure projects such as this make a real difference to people and the environment. Your attention to detail and strong analytical and data management skills will ensure you can succeed in this role. We do not expect the candidate to have experience in all aspects of monitoring, therefore training and support will be provided, however, hydrological monitoring is a key aspect and successful candidate will ideally have some expertise in this area.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive team, reporting to the Resilient Glenderamackin Project Manager and supported by the Trust’s Senior Management Team, WCRT’s Trustees and the wider staff team.

To apply for this post, please send your CV with a covering letter setting out your experience and qualifications as highlighted in the job specification to recruitment@westcumbriariverstrust.org ensuring your application is marked as Data & Monitoring Officer application.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 15th April 2024. Interviews will be held at our offices in Keswick on Wednesday 24th April 2024.
