The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for an Instructor Position in Environmental Justice and Sustainability. This position supports the Geography and Geospatial Science Program’s themes of global change risk and resilience, Earth system science, and geospatial modeling and analysis. Instructors in the Geography and Geospatial Science Program are integral and valued members of the program who contribute to teaching, service, and our vision of the program’s future. The successful candidate must have a primary commitment to teaching and undergraduate education but will also be expected to take on service roles within the Program and/or College, and professional currency and Program development. The successful applicant will develop and deliver on-campus and online (Ecampus) courses.  This is a part-time (.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term appointment with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2024. A 0.75 FTE, 12-month position is broadly equivalent to a traditional full-time, 9-month position but includes additional benefits such as year-round pay and paid vacation leave.  Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

Requirements

Qualifications

Must have an academic background in environmental justice or risk and vulnerability studies.  Demonstrate relevant teaching experience across modalities, including in the delivery of online courses. Must show evidence of or commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching, with demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting. Candidates must have a PhD in Geography or a closely related discipline.
