Position Summary:Willamette University invites applicants for a one-year (2024-2025) non-tenure-track full-time position in Environmental Science at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2024 and running through May 2025. Area of specialty is open but should be based within the natural sciences.
The successful candidate will teach 6 courses over the course of the academic year and participate in departmental service and activities. The VAP teaching load will include ENVS 121: Earth System Science, a 100- or 200- level non-majors environmental science class of the candidate’s choice, as well as upper-division environmental science courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will have broad interdisciplinary training in an area that is flexible but may include: natural hazards, natural resources, marine science, water resources, hydrology, agriculture, or energy.

Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in an appropriate discipline, and an environmental focus. ABD with teaching experience considered.
- Must be able to reside in or primarily work in Oregon by the first day of employment. This is an in-person teaching position.
