Urban Water

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Economist to lead cost-benefit assessments of nature-based vs. grey infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing economic analyses, including cost-benefit analyses, and other relevant economic assessments, to evaluate the economic efficiency and effectiveness of these solutions.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement cost-benefit analyses of nature-based vs. grey infrastructure solutions for a variety of environmental challenges, including but not limited to water management, climate adaptation, and biodiversity conservation
  2. Develop appropriate economic models and statistical tools to quantify the economic efficiency and effectiveness of these solutions
  3. Analyse environmental, socio-economic data to estimate the costs and benefits associated with each solution
  4. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary stakeholders to develop key indicators for impact assessment, cost-benefit analysis and monitoring and evaluation
  5. Communicate findings and recommendations to project teams, stakeholders, and clients
  6. Stay current with emerging trends and developments in environmental economics and related fields
  7. Apply environmental valuation methods (EVM) to estimate the impact of poor water resource management on economic activities.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental economics, experience in conducting cost-benefit analyses, and an understanding of the trade-offs between nature-based and grey infrastructure solutions.

  1. Master’s or PhD degree in environmental economics or a related field
  2. At least three years of experience in conducting economic analyses
  3. Strong analytical skills, including experience with statistical software such as STATA, R, or SAS
  4. Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies at the local, state, and federal levels
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex economic concepts to non-technical audiences
  6. Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams
  7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  8. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
