Job Description/Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in hydrology, groundwater hydrology, GIS, and applied topics in GIS or techniques related to the candidate’s area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will teach introductory undergraduate courses in environmental sciences or geography. SIUE has a strong commitment to teaching and research through the teacher­scholar model, and the successful candidate is expected to be active in the design and teaching of classes that have project-based learning activities, publish scholarly work, promote undergraduate research, supervise and mentor graduate students, and participate in service activities. This position will also complement the Land Surveying and Geomatics program within the School of Engineering. The successful candidate will also demonstrate commitment to inclusion, equity, and diversity in teaching, research, and service.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Hydrology, or related fields is required. ABO candidates will be considered. Applicants who have not completed all degree requirements by the beginning of the contract period may be considered for a one-year term interim appointment at the rank of instructor. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a related field conferred by the time of appointment.

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Sciences and the Department of Environmental Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a continuing, jointly appointed, tenure-track (9 month) position at the level of Assistant Professor specializing in Hydrology, beginning August 2024. The ideal candidate will have an active research focus in an applied field within hydrology, and strong technical skills relating to Geographic Information Systems/Sciences.
