The Department of Earth Sciences offers Applied Geology and Environmental & Water Sciences degree programmes. The successful candidate will join the Department’s Environmental & Water Sciences Section but will serve both sections of the Department, adding expertise in fieldwork, laboratory and sample management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:
- Coordinate and organize undergraduate and postgraduate field trips.
- Manage the Department’s teaching collection.
- Oversee the maintenance of Departmental equipment.
- Manage the Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometer and geochemistry laboratories.
- Provide IT and computer related support to the department.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc Honours in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability in managing laboratories and facilities.
- Demonstrated ability in handling the logistics and organizing of undergraduate and postgraduate field trips.
- Be willing to undertake 4×4 driver’s training.
