  • Plans and facilitates environmental education activities for summer youth and family programs at the Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center
  • Uses exhibits, art, and programs to teach people of all ages how to protect and conserve resources
  • Works under general supervision
  • This position is open to all interested persons ages 15 and older
  • This position works Wednesdays from June – August
  • This position is designated as At-Will.

Essential Functions

Collaborates, plans and teaches water and STEM educational activities for kids at the Boise WaterShed during WaterShed Wednesday events. Works with Water Education Coordinator and education staff on program development and implementation. Participates in team-building and environmental stewardship activities as scheduled. (100%)

Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. Total Percentage = 100%

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

  • Interest in water or the environment and working with children.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

  • 1 year of experience working with youths from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.

Ability To:

  • Deal with individuals in a friendly and tactful manner
  • Work in indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
  • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion
  • Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance
  • Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation

Licensing And Other Requirements

  • First Aid and CPR certification

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is rarely moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.
