Postdoc in Evolutionary ecology of aquatic ecosystems (m/f/d)
The Evolutionary Ecosystem Dynamics group, led by Dr Blake Matthews, has a position available that is funded for 2 years within the project “The eco-evolutionary effects of predators in aquatic ecosystems”. The overall goal of the project is to understand the interactions between rapid trait evolution, community dynamics, and ecosystem functions.
The research project of the postdoc will involve investigating the ecological and evolutionary effects of stickleback in lakes of Southern Greenland, using a combination of analyses of lake ecosystem field surveys (planned for 2024 & 2025 field seasons) and ongoing whole-lake experiments involving stickleback introductions (ongoing since 2019). We are interested in candidates with a background in evolutionary ecology, and an interest in phenotypic evolution of wild populations. Demonstrated experience/competency in field biology is essential, and any of the following skills would be beneficial: morphological analysis, population genomics, and data/statistical analysis. The lab and departmental working languages are English.
The position is located at Eawag’s Kastanienbaum location, on the shores of Lake Lucerne and is a strong nucleus of Eawag research groups aimed at integrating evolutionary biology, community ecology, and ecosystem science http://www.eawag.ch/forschung/cc/ceeb/index_EN. The postdoc will interact with a diverse range of researchers studying community ecology, evolutionary biology, eco-logical genetics, ecosystem science, and applied environmental science.
The starting date for the position is flexible but a date before July 2024 would be preferred, to enable participation in the 2024 field season in Southern Greenland (4-6 weeks in July/Aug).
