Purpose

The CEEW’s sustainable water programme is informing policy-making for the sustainable development of water resources and their effective management through research in areas of circular economy in used water management and water bodies rejuvenation; capacity building for mainstreaming climate action in water; policy coherence in water-energy-food sectors; and water accounting based planning.

For its sustainable water programme, CEEW seeks to hire a Research Intern who has a sound understanding of the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. The intern will mainly review relevant national-level policies and programmes, and other forms of national and international literature on climate change and WASH. Candidates having an educational background in WASH or with a strong component of WASH in their related degree are encouraged to apply.

Job duties and accountabilities

Research and Project Assistance

  • Have a good understanding of WASH sector and how it is at risk from climate change
  • Have a good understanding of various kind of social and economic vulnerabilities that impact WASH sector
  • Support systematic review of literature
  • Support development of questionnaires and stakeholder consultations
  • Support in report writing and preparation of presentations
  • Any other work assigned

Selection Criteria

Qualification and work experience

  • Master’s degree (completed or pursuing) in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); water supply; water science; environmental science; or a related field

Key Skills

  • Should have strong research skills to support a systematic review of the literature
  • Ability to write in a manner that can summarise and communicate the insights/findings
  • Good presentation skills

  • Ability to adapt and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
