The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.
Our Water Strategies & Policy team is currently seeking to appoint a Water Strategy Officer in a temporary full-time capacity until 30 June 2025. A talent pool will be created for any future opportunities.
The Water Strategy Officer contributes to the delivery, implementation and review of region-scale water strategies to determine the best solutions for long-term water resource resilience, including policy, planning and infrastructure solutions. The role contributes to water strategy research activities and projects and liaises with government agencies, utilities, industry and community stakeholders in a highly market sensitive operating environment to inform strategy delivery consistent with the State’s water reform agenda and relevant legislation.
About You
In this role, you will:
- Undertake research and gather data and information on water demand and supply for key region sectors, including emerging trends.
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders at the regional level to provide research and information products that inform the development of regional strategies.
- Working collaboratively across DCCEEW, providing the relevant strategy information to assess potential risk in water management arrangements.
- Facilitate and contribute to regional working groups to gather data and information to inform water strategy development and investment.
Knowledge & Experience
Experience in water related areas such as water planning, energy transition/climate change, land-use planning, natural resource management, environmental science, economics, civil/environmental engineering and hydrology.
Essential Requirements
- NSW Class C Driver Licence (or equivalent) and willingness to undertake overnight travel.
