Are you passionate about protecting and enhancing the environment? Can you help our Hydrogeologists to ensure groundwater is clean, plentiful, and available for future generations?
You can play an important and rewarding role in the water environment where groundwater is the main source of water for many people, rivers and wetlands.
We are looking for someone with a good background in Geology, Environmental Science or Chemistry. You can develop a career finding high-quality, sustainable solutions to environmental problems using your analytical and developing hydrogeological skills.
The role would suit an enthusiastic and innovative person who enjoys working collaboratively in small, friendly teams to deliver our vision of the sustainable management of groundwater.
Getting involved in work such as:
- Making assessments with analytical models and providing advice.
- Analysing and interrogating large data sets to assess compliance with environmental standards
- The regulation of groundwater
- Developing technical data to inform conclusion making
You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
You’ll have an inclusive incident management goal in your development plan, so we’ll support you to find an incident role to suit your needs and circumstances.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you’ll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Groundwater team is made up of specialists providing technical expertise in the amount and quality of groundwater. We use clear evidence, proportionate regulation and guidance to balance the needs of water users and the environment.
Experience/skills required
You will be someone with a genuine interest in the environment, with a degree (or equivalent) in the subject and/or a proven track record (paid or voluntary) of working in the sector.
To be eligible for this role you will need to meet ALL the following criteria:
Criteria 1
- You are a UK, Commonwealth or EEA (European Economic Area) national
- You have the right to work in the UK
Criteria 2
- Must have a minimum of an honours degree in geology, chemistry, environmental science or another relevant subject.
- Eg. driving licence .
