The ONE DROP Foundation is looking for a Director, Global Programs (Canada and Intl.) to collaborate with and supervise the program team of “Regional Leads”, with the aim of providing high-quality technical support and ensuring the implementation and success of various international projects, mainly in Latin America and Canada, while supporting the development of a programmatic approach in India.

Main responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Co-President and Co-Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Global Programs (Canada and Intl.) is responsible for:

  • Helping to position One Drop as a “Lead Convener” in the programs in which the Foundation co-invests, particularly the Lazos de Agua program in Latin America and the Indigenous Water Allyship program in Canada.
  • Supervise and support regional Leads to ensure high-quality technical support during the design and implementation of new and existing projects in which the Foundation co-invests, with priority given to Latin America and Canada, as well as Africa and India.
  • Contributes actively, in collaboration with the Regional Leads, to the development of a programmatic approach and to the design phase of projects with a view to integrating the Foundation’s approaches with partners and other donors.
  • Develops and maintains a privileged relationship based on trust with partners and certain donors, in collaboration with the Regional Leads.
  • Contributes to the preparation and participates in meetings for project/program coordination and steering committees, representing the Foundation as a donor and technical support partner.
  • Coaches and supports team members (Regional Leads) on best practices in project design, technical support for implementation and evaluation, drawing on lessons learned from the One Drop Foundation.
  • Works closely with the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Government Relations to seek funding from the corporate sector, foundations and philanthropic organizations to co-invest in the Foundation’s various programs.
  • Participates in the writing and revision of project proposals (narrative and budgetary content) in close collaboration with Regional Leads and the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Government Relations.
  • Represents the Foundation, as required, to programmatic partners and to the community of experts in international programs (access and management of water and sanitation) during webinars or attendance at conferences.
  • In collaboration with the One Drop Foundation finance team and regional Leads, contributes to the monitoring of project budget management, analyze partners’ financial reports and ensures the appropriate pace of disbursements.
  • Contributes to and supports the integration of the Foundation’s climate change strategy.
  • Ensures that the One Drop Foundation’s gender policy and other policies (such as its policy on equity, diversity and inclusion or its strategy on climate change) are integrated and implemented in projects.
  • Collaborates with the Communications and Marketing team, the Senior Director of Behavior Change and the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Government Relations to document project approaches and results, highlight added value and contributes to knowledge documents.

For the Indigenous Water Allyship Program

  • Oversees, in close collaboration with the One Drop Foundation team and the implementing partner (CIER), the implementation of the Indigenous Art and Youth for Water Initiative and acts as a facilitator to ensure that the targeted results are achieved, within budget and on schedule.
  • Leads the co-design of the new Indigenous Water Allyship Program, in close collaboration with the One Drop Foundation team and the program’s various stakeholders.
  • Identifies and builds strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders and indigenous organizations/communities, ensuring collaboration in the development and design of the new Indigenous Water Allyship Program, in light of the results of the Indigenous Art and Youth for Water Initiative.
  • Supports the team in the ongoing analysis of the impact and results of the Indigenous Water Allyship projects, and the implementation of measures to achieve them.
  • Other related tasks

Your experience

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in international development projects funded by bilateral and multilateral organizations
  • Experience working and partnering with organizations and/or indigenous communities in Canada
  • In-depth understanding of the challenges facing Canada’s First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples
  • Experience in the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) sector
  • Experience in project management and delivery

Your Skills

  • 2nd cycle university education
  • Training in project management, international development, or business administration an asset. Any other relevant discipline will be considered
  • Excellent command of written and spoken French, English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, MS Excel and project management tools
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms (TEAMS and Zoom)

Your assets

  • Experience in climate resilience, environmental or community projects
  • Active network with First Nations, Métis and Inuit people
  • Experience in policy and/or government relations or advocacy 
  • Experience working in Latin America
  • Field experience in project delivery
  • Understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  • Native speakers are more than welcome!

  • Primary workplace is located at the One Drop Foundation’s offices: 8400 Avenue du Cirque, Montreal (QC) H1Z 4M6 CANADA
  • Remote work options available (as laid out in the organization’s remote work policy)
  • When conditions permit and/or as needed, the position requires travel in Canada and Latin America (less than 15% of the time).
