A graduate role as a Water Resources Officer (agriculture) is an exciting opportunity to contribute, learn and develop. Our Water Resources Officers play a critical role in using data and evidence to plan and prioritise the delivery of environmental outcomes.

You will play a crucial role in working on revising the National Framework for Water Resources. Collaborating and working effectively in a national team to shape water resources planning for agriculture. Examining the effects of climate change and population growth on the demands from agriculture. Investigating how farmers can improve their water supply resilience.

An environmental degree and/or experience in water resources work

  • Ability to co-ordinate projects and organise workload
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to be able to work effectively and collaboratively with others
  • An interest in protecting the environment and sustainable water use

During your traineeship, you will have the opportunity to work on other projects and in other teams including a chance to work with area operational teams to see the work that they do and the ways in which we help support it. You will be expected to grow you interest and experience in biodiversity throughout this time with a view to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you’ll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

Our Water Resources Officers play a critical role in using data and evidence to plan and prioritise the delivery of environmental outcomes.

Experience/skills required

You will be someone with a genuine interest in the environment, with a degree (or equivalent) in the subject and/or a proven track record (paid or voluntary) of working in the sector.

To be eligible for this role you will need to meet ALL the following criteria:

Criteria 1

  • You are a UK, Commonwealth or EEA (European Economic Area) national
  • You have the right to work in the UK

Criteria 2

  • Must have a minimum of a honours degree in environmental science or equivalent subject
  • Driving licence .

Role specific license requirements: Full UK Driving Licence
