The ICRC has several Rosters and Pools for different professions. To join an ICRC Roster and Pool, we will assess your expertise and professional experience against the below-mentioned criteria and invite you for an online technical test. Once you have passed the test, you will join the specific ICRC Roster and Pool. About the job 

The ICRC Water and Habitat unit is and looking for Water and Habitat (WatHab) Technicians. S/he will implement small or non-complex engineering projects within the scope of ICRC’s water and habitat assistance objectives and under the close supervision and guidance of their hierarchical superior. S/he personally carries out on-site works and monitors them for quality control and compliance with design documents. S/he has a close working relationship with external stakeholders related to their projects.  

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Monitor project implementation for compliance with project documents, ICRC standards, and local building codes/standards
  • Conduct quality control during infrastructure design/construction and prepare reports on project implementation/site progress
  • Prepare and compile site reports on project implementation 
  • Assist in identifying and analyzing needs through assessments and surveys
  • Manage project purchasing on labor and materials according to the delegation’s logistical and financial rules
  • Develop project documents (drawings, bill of quantities, contracts etc..) for small or non-complex engineering projects using approved formats 
  • Train and organize training for end-users in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure installed by the ICRC
  • Take part in analyzing water and habitat issues, the security situation, and the cultural and political environment
  • Develop a network of stakeholders, monitor security issues related to project sites and advise WatHab Engineer and WatHab Coordinator

About you

To be successful in this Roster and Pool recruitment, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • Technical vocational training, apprenticeship or equivalent professional experience
  • Advance studies on engineering related course or equivalent training
  • Between 1 and 7 years of professional work experience in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Broad knowledge of engineering, including construction
  • Good command (spoken and written) of English 
  • Good computer literacy (Excel/ Word), and MS Project Management Suite or equivalent 
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Confidence in managing projects and staff
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
